With over 25 members and non-members at the ACE Christmas lunch, we were delighted with the mix of venues, suppliers and organisers who joined us on Monday.  We would like to thank all those who attended and the team at the Victory Services Club for helping us deliver an excellent event.

Calling all ACE Members!

Now in its 10th year, Britain for Events is an annual campaign designed to promote the value of event tourism to the British economy and celebrate the creativity of those organisations within it. Endorsed by the Minister for Tourism, John Penrose MP, the Business Visits and Events Partnership and national tourism body VisitBritain, the campaign also has the support of a number of high profile industry and corporate brands.

Business tourism leaders were in Cardiff this week (12th / 13th September) to see what the capital of Wales can offer their industry.

It was the first time the Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) had met in Cardiff in recent years.

Heledd Williams, Head of Business Tourism at Cardiff & Co, the city region’s marketing company, told the visitors that Cardiff had increased the number of beds in the city over the last five years and now has more than 8,000.

She said,

“Cardiff is less than two hours from London and has a variety of venues, from the 74,000-seat roofed Millennium Stadium to more traditional hotel and stadium conference facilities.  It also boasts the 3rd most visited shopping centre in the whole of the UK as well as a range of cultural, sporting and artistic venues only seen in capital cities.  Cardiff is much more than a viable destination for Business Tourism including Meetings and Events – those who have seen at first-hand Cardiff’s recent transformation recognise it as an ideal destination.”

Confex has always been the UK's No 1 showcase for all things connected to the conference world and now embraces some aspects of the events scene as well This the, 29th International Confex and the last one to be held at Earls Court was well planned but still somewhat strange with the stand numbering and even so more with its coloured carpet. One could no longer reckon that all stands with the initial letter R would be on the red carpet and it confused visitors to a great extent.
