Education is the key... PDF Print E-mail

There is no doubt that the right education is key to a successful career.

So what course is right for your career goals.? Here are some helpful hints on what you should first consider prior to committing your time energy and money.

Having decided the type of career you wish to follow in the conference and events industry, it is time to investigate the education and training opportunities open to you.

A good place to start is the website of the Association for Events Management Education.  Here under FAQs you will find a list of the main colleges and universities offering course in the field of Conference & Event Management.

Details of these courses are usually available on the websites of the individual colleges and universities listed.  After reading through the details it is a good idea to contact the Course Leader, if you still have questions.  For example:  What skills and knowledge will the course give you?  Is there input from guest lecturers from the conference and events industry?  Do lecturers have experience of working in the industry?  And - most importantly - What types of jobs have previous students taking the courses gone into?

To help you see what type of textbooks you may be using on your course, a list of these is available from the Business Visits & Events Partnership

UCAS (Universities & Colleges Admissions Service) offer a search facility showing over 400 Event Management Courses.
