Adrian Clark

Adrian Clark

Honorary Treasurer

His whole working life until his retirement in July 2004 was spent in various British tourism organisations, starting with the national tourist office - British Travel Association (BTA) – and ending with The Tourism Society – a networking membership organisation for people working in tourism.

Born in Birmingham in 1944 and educated at King Edward VI School, Stourbridge, Adrian has lived in London almost continuously since his arrival there in 1963 to study French Language and Literature for a BA Honours Degree at London University’s Queen Mary College.

During that time, he worked in Paris, Toronto and New York – but mainly in London. Since retiring in 2004, he has maintained his involvement with and interest in tourism via three non-executive posts:

  • Honorary Treasurer and Council member (Association for Conferences and Events - ACE)
  • Adviser to and member of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Marketing's Travel Industry Group
  • Member of the Qualifications Board of the Institute of Tourist Guiding

Throughout his life, he has maintained a keen interest in and spent a considerable amount of money supporting performances of classical music and the theatre. He also likes to visit his various friends throughout the world, to indulge in conversations about politics, the economy and to enjoy good dining.
