Margaret Johnson is a member of the ACE Council and has more than 30 years experience in the conference and events industry. She has expertise in the organisation and management of many scientific and medical conferences, the largest being a 4 day Medical World Congress for 2,800 delegates. She has also organised a number of educational familiarisation visits, for buyers in the events industry, to many countries including Taiwan, Ecuador, Morocco and Finland.
Initially, Margaret trained as an inorganic chemist in Sheffield. After several years in the research industry, she left to work in Argentina and subsequently travelled around most of South America for two years.
She returned to undertake research contracts in Imperial College, London. One of these was for the investigation of the fire wire surrounding the jet engines of the Concord supersonic plane. Whilst working in Imperial College, Margaret was introduced to the conference industry by assisting in, then subsequently organising scientific meetings and events. Since that time she has managed conferences and congresses for a number of companies and associations both here and abroad.
In addition to assisting in the general running of ACE and its events, Margaret has used her expertise by organising familiarisation visits for ACE members. Margaret is a member of PATA, the Pacific Asia Travel Association and also the Guild of Travel and Tourism. She enjoys travelling to unusual destinations but her greatest love is exploring South America.
