Council of Management

The Council of the Association shall consist of the Chairman of the Association for the time being, the Director of the Association, the Treasurer of the Association (when the respective offices carry no salary or remuneration), together with

  1. nine elected members who are organisers as referred to under Article 5 (2) and
  2. six elected members who suppliers/venues as shown under Article 5 (3) and
  3. one representative of each chapter or branch provided that no member of that chapter or branch has already been elected to serve on the Council and
  4. such further members not exceeding three as the Council may co-opt.

Margaret Johnson is a member of the ACE Council and has more than 30 years experience in the conference and events industry. She has expertise in the organisation and management of many scientific and medical conferences, the largest being a 4 day Medical World Congress for 2,800 delegates. She has also organised a number of educational familiarisation visits, for buyers in the events industry, to many countries including Taiwan, Ecuador, Morocco and Finland.

Joy Montmorency ACE

Joy Montmorency has 36 years experience of organising conferences and events.   She is the former Executive Chairman of The Association for Conferences & Events (ACE) and is still a member of ACE’s governing Council. She is on the Board of the Tourism Society and a member of the Steering Committee of the Events Industry Forum (EIF) and a Senate member of the Genesis Initiative for Small Business.

Stuart Forrester is a member of the ACE Council and has more than 30 years experience in the conference, exhibition and marketing industry. For most of his career he worked for Blue Chip German companies culminating in becoming the UK and Ireland Marketing Director for Robert Boschs engineering group Rexroth. Following completion of his MBA, he decided September 2006 was the time to jump from the safety of the corporate world and formed his own communication agency, thefc.

Honorary Treasurer

His whole working life until his retirement in July 2004 was spent in various British tourism organisations, starting with the national tourist office - British Travel Association (BTA) – and ending with The Tourism Society – a networking membership organisation for people working in tourism.
